HAPPY HOUR is a cocktail-fueled 60 minutes of random conversation with folks who have nothing in common, other than being New Orleanians in a bar. Featuring extraordinary New Orleans musicians playing live, host Grant Morris and sidekick deluxe Andrew Duhon.
This is the 5th year of the New Orleans Horror Film Fest. The guy who has to watch 600 unreleased horror movies and decide on 47 that are good enough to screen at the festival is known in some circles as Balls Cobain.
You might be surprised to learn that those circles are primarily Balls's family. To the rest of us he's Chuck Lucia and when he's not blowing sh*t up for a living he's Director of the horror film fest which is the last weekend of September.
If you only have a chance to see one movie at this year's festival, or you live out of New Orleans and you'd like to see a really good, creepy, original horror film, Balls recommends The House On Pine Street.
Olga is also in the movies, among a number of other seemingly unrelated pursuits as disparate as farting in planes, selling designer British T-shirts, being set alight, humping a guy while skydiving, and playing ukulele. And there's only a certain amount of conversation you can have in an hour - if we had another 60 minutes who knows what else we might find out about Olga?
Sara Vinson only arrived in New Orleans 5 months ago and has already discovered you can get 25c martinis at lunchtime at Commander's palace. Sara managed to drink 3 of them before arriving at Happy Hour and ordering a 4th. Chuck (Balls Cobain) Lucia may be the greatest immediate beneficiary of the 4 martini effect, getting an "I love being home" hug from Sara - but Olga might be a longer term bneficiary if Sara remembers she's meant to be selling merch for her at her Saturday night gig.
Andrew Duhon is back from his travels across the country and has learned a thing or two about Portland - where he was - and Seattle - where he's never been.
