Psychiatrist Dr. Nick Pejic hosts MINDSET. Unlike the hosts of many mental health shows, Dr Pejic really is a psychiatrist. Mindset allows Nick to help us understand what motivates successful people, especially New Orleans' best. He's not your dad's Dr. Phil or your grandma's Dr. Laura, and Mindset is not your regular mental health show. Young, dapper Dr Pejic says, "This is New Orleans. We are not about what is wrong with you, we're about what is right with you."
Dr. Pejic is interested in how people work, what drives them, and what makes them happy. He spends most of his time studying psychiatry and seeing patients at his office, where he diagnoses and treats everything from common life stressors to mental illness.
He created Atlas Psychiatry in October 2008 to provide a private and pleasant experience for his patients. "Atlas" comes from the Greek root "durus," which means "hard" or "enduring." Dr. Pejic chose "Atlas Psychiatry" to signify the difficult struggle patients have with life and the psychiatric disorders it can produce.
Dr. Pejic has many interests outside the office related to mental health. He teaches "A Psychiatrist's Guide to Knowing Yourself," "Passion in Medicine," and "Disaster Leader’s Guide to Care of Self and Others at Risk" at Tulane and teaches Neuroscience, Neuropsychiatry, and Addiction Medicine at LSU.
